2010 Team Information
The Montgomery Makos Swim Team accommodates a team of 120 members ages 4 to 17. The fee is $95 for the season ($75 for each additional child in a family).
Also, a $75 service deposit is required with registration. Mako parents who serve at a minimum of 4 meets and attend the parent information meeting on April 21 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Terwilliger Lodge in Dulle Park will be refunded the service deposit.
Participation requires attendance at daily practices for one-hour between 8:30am and 11am, Monday through Friday. Also, volunteer hours from parents for practices and meets, and the purchase of needed team equipment such as team suit, goggles and swim cap are a necessary part in swim team participation.
This is a great opportunity for youth to become stronger swimmers, make friends and have FUN! This team is focused on developing youth into team players, each making a contribution towards the goal and success of the whole team. Although competition is an element in any sport, the goal of the Montgomery Makos is self-improvement of each of its members, not on competitive marks and records. The season runs from June 3 through July 24. There will also be parents meetings with the Makos Parent Organization the first full week of practice to outline season expectations, roles and key dates.
Participants must be able to swim 25 meters freestyle, submerge, feel comfortable in deep water and be a current member of the municipal pool. Team size is limited to 120 members with a maximum of 30 swimmers per age group (6 and under, 7\8, 9\10, 11\12, 13\14 and 15 and up) with a cap at 120 swimmers for the team. The team will be staffed by a full time coach, assistant coach and 2 part-time coaches as well as an adequate number of lifeguards on duty for all team practice and home meets. The Makos Swim Team is a member of the Tri-County Swim League.
