Montgomery Road water main project’s impact

During March through December 2010, the Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) will be completing the installation/construction of 36 and 42 inch diameter water transmission mains throughout various locations in Montgomery. Construction will be completed in at least three (3) separate projects in public roadways. What ideas do you have about minimizing this project’s impact on you, other residents and the community in general?
Construction will involve work on seven different roadways in Montgomery including Cooper Road, Delray Drive, Castleford Lane, Jolain Drive, Tollgate Lane, and Schoolhouse Lane, as well as a portion of Montgomery Road between Pfeiffer Road and Schoolhouse Lane. Current plans for construction along Montgomery Road specify that installation of the water transmission main must be completed during the 11 week period of June 7-August 23.
The City of Montgomery recognizes that the scale and scope of the projects, engineered to improve the reliability and quality of the GCWW distribution system, also have the potential to significantly impact residents, businesses and the general public that utilize Montgomery roadways.
The City of Montgomery does not have the option to deny GCWW’s water main project. The City does however have the right and responsibility to place reasonable limitations on construction activities so that negative impacts can be reduced.
One way to reduce the impact the project will have on everyone is a sound communications plan, so this month’s questions are:
- Do you have specific recommendations or preferences about how the City of Montgomery and GCWW can provide residents, businesses and motorists passing through Montgomery with timely project updates and information about construction on Montgomery Road? Email, Website, Mail, Twitter, etc.?
- What problems do you believe you will experience during the construction of the water transmission main on Montgomery Road?
